Defend the Sea Lions on the Columbia River

Call of the Cove is using the off season of the Dolphin Drive Hunt in Taiji to focus on the Dam Guardians’ Sea Lion Defense Campaign at the Bonneville Dam on the Columbia River and in Astoria, Oregon in the United States.

We ask that everyone use their same voices to help put a stop to the hazing, branding, and killing of federally protected sea lions, who have been wrongly accused of overeating salmon, when in fact the Bonneville Dam accounts for 17% of salmon deaths and commercial/sport/native fishing accounts for another 17% of salmon deaths along the Columbia River each year, while sea lions only eat 1 to 4% of the salmon population for their survival.

VOICE YOUR OPINION TO CONGRESS:
Tell Congress to oppose House Resolution 1308 by clicking here and clicking the OPPOSE button on POPVOX, a website that bridges the gap between the input the public wants to provide and the information Members of Congress want and need to receive. H.R. 1308 would further amend the Marine Mammal Protection Act to permit the annual killing of sea lions.

Urge them to find alternative solutions to save endangered salmon and to immediately halt the lethal removal of California sea lions at the Bonneville Dam:
